Trip to the National Museum
Ooohh...went to the newly renovated National Museum today! The exterior looks somewhat the same, just whiter. But the design on the interior is absolutely fantastic! All glass and metal and extremely clean. I would most willingly lie down on the floor to grab a nap.
Met Shawn during lunch today (he was going to meet his friend for some LAN gaming at Peace centre) and told him that Louis and I were going the to National Museum and he gave us the "that's the most boring thing to do on earth" face. Ha! I bet you'll change your mind after visiting it! Hmmm...didn't find the guestbook that your friend scribbled in though. Guess they really changed it after he left his imprint. Hee...
These are some memetos that we took from the museum.
Free newspaper, free booklet and the admission tickets. Very expensive! Used to be like 5 dollars for adults and $1.50 for students, I think. Now admission is $10 and $5 respectively. However, in view of the technology they employ, I think it's totally worth it.
This is the entrance to the History Gallery. You have to slide your ticket at the glass barriers before you can enter and upon entrance, a lady will give you an electronic museum guide. I could spend hours in there. There are like a million videos and a thousand different rooms to explore.
This is the fashion room. It's filled with women's clothes from past eras. Louis made an intelligent comment in this room (the only clever thing he said all day). "How can fashion be all about women? How about the men's stuff???" I totally agree with him. It was a rather stereotypical view of fashion. However, it was still fascinating. The colours, the dresses on display, the bags, even catglasses! Harharhar...! Louis was happiest in the food room though. He went around sniffing the spices. =D
Parting shot. It's a really beautiful building. Anyway, we went to eat dinner and amazingly, we spent less than 25 dollars on food! Usually we eat like crazy, but Louis and I have decided to save and stop spending like there's no tomorrow. Heh...very satisfied meal at Carl's Junior. Look at the happy cup!
Hee hee...coincidentally, we saw the Chingay parade along Orchard Road as well.
It says Chingay. Took it with my phone cum camera cum mp3 player. Mobile phones nowadays are quite fantastic.
One of the floats. I believe the scary looking dolls are called da tou wa-wa in Mandarin. Big-headed dolls.
All the people at Orchard were watching the Chingay. As a result, the trains were quite empty and we got a seat! Heh...
It was a perfect day.
=)
