a tiny forgotten part of Singapore

had an extremely interesting day with a few mementos to remember it by (including the scars left by the commando mosquitoes on my legs!).

Thanks to Desmond, Lawrence and I had a chance to visit the LAST, REMAINING KAMPUNG in Singapore! It was a tiny place made up of about 10-15 households, mostly Malay. A really quiet placed tucked away neatly from the sight of the towering blocks of HDB flats just opposite. Mosquitoes swarmed us as soon as we arrived and Desmond and Lawrence actually saw a wild monitor lizard while I was occupied with avoiding a bee the size of my fist!!! Why oh why did the annoying bee annoy me at that precise moment!!! I was hoping to see a monitor lizard!!! *sigh*

I lost my chance. But Desmond's gonna get my cell group free tix to the zoo and he says we'll see it then. Oh well...sometimes we can't ask for too much. I saw gargantuan bees, an Indian cat (I'll explain), friendly dogs, cute bunny rabbits, real wooden houses and the sweetest Malay girl in the whole of our island state. Not bad for one afternoon right? Heh...

Here are the long-awaited photos!

This is one of the houses that we saw. Don't you think it reminds of those old SBC shows? Especially those of the school children and Chen Liping saying "Ai Yo Yo!"??? Harharhar...

Look at the cute bunnies!!! They were so welcoming tried desperately to sniff us over. =]

Roosters are an essential part of kampung life because they don't have alarm clocks.

The Indian cat!!!! There were 3 white cats and only one had the a mark on its forehead. They spotted us and came out to play.

I can't turn this photo around, I don't know why! So you're gonna have to turn your computer screen around again. I thought after trespassing on so many of the houses, we ought to clean up a little.

See the sweetie smiling for me? So adorable right?

Too many photos and too little time. Visit the place if you have time. Sooner better than later. Before the government clears it away for another faceless shopping district.

Louis is now safe in San Francisco

I am so bored!!!!

Never knew how much entertainment Louis provided. Check out his photo (note: only one photo because he was too tired to post any more) blog. It's one of the links on the sidebar. Heh...my face looked really puffy at the airport. Only had like 2-3 hours of sleep coz we were watching TV and slept at about 2a.m.

My usual antidote to boredom is Sims 2, which is extremely addictive. However, I'm watching Criminal Minds now, or rather, waiting for it to finish loading. Once it's done, I'm just gonna focus all my energy on perfecting my Sim's life. Harharhar...i really sound like i have no life right...but Sunday is a day of rest and I already redeemed myself from eating 2 donuts yesterday by going for a jog this morning!

I miss Louis. He's very, very amusing and somehow talking via Skype just feels weird. His voice is muffled. Movements are laggy. I guess I'll have to get used to it.

The first day was the hardest. I'm glad it's the second day now. I hope it gets easier, not worse.
